Job Overview for the Specialised Cardiac Physiologist Job in Liverpool
As a Specialised Cardiac Physiologist, you will play a key role in the delivery of a comprehensive range of cardiac investigations and interventions. You’ll be responsible for carrying out diagnostic tests, supporting pacing clinics, and contributing to the monitoring and management of patients with various cardiac conditions. Your expertise will support both outpatient and inpatient services, working closely with consultants, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
Key Responsibilities for the Specialised Cardiac Physiologist Job in Liverpool
- Perform and interpret a wide range of cardiac diagnostic procedures including ECGs, Holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), and exercise tolerance testing (ETT).
- Assist in and conduct pacemaker follow-up clinics and pre/post-implantation checks.
- Provide technical support during device implantations and electrophysiological procedures.
- Carry out transthoracic echocardiograms and assist with transoesophageal echocardiograms (if trained).
- Analyse data and report findings accurately to the clinical team.
- Support remote device monitoring services and contribute to virtual patient management.
- Mentor and supervise junior physiologists and students as required.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and maintain a high standard of clinical governance and patient safety.
Requirements for the Specialised Cardiac Physiologist Job in Liverpool
- BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent.
- RCCP or AHCS registration (or working towards).
- Proven experience in cardiac diagnostics and device monitoring.
- Skilled in ECG interpretation, pacing, and ambulatory monitoring.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A team player with the ability to work independently when required.
- Commitment to delivering excellent patient care and maintaining clinical standards.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- BHRS or IBHRE accreditation in cardiac devices (preferred but not essential).
- Competence in transthoracic echocardiography (TTE).
- Experience with remote monitoring platforms and digital cardiac systems.
- Knowledge of cardiac software systems such as Meditech, GE, or Philips.
- Prior involvement in service development or clinical audit.
