Job Overview for the Band 7 Device Physiologist Job in Swindon
As a Band 7 Device Physiologist, you will be a senior member of the cardiology team, providing expert assessment, programming, and follow-up of patients with implantable cardiac devices. You will be responsible for complex device checks including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and loop recorders, both in-clinic and through remote monitoring systems.
Your role will also include leadership responsibilities such as supporting junior staff, service development, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities for the Band 7 Device Physiologist Job in Swindon
- Independently manage and conduct follow-up clinics for all types of cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT-P, and CRT-D.
- Perform pre- and post-operative checks on cardiac devices and assist during implantation procedures.
- Interpret and act upon device diagnostics, ECGs, and remote monitoring data.
- Provide technical support during electrophysiology (EP) studies and ablation procedures (if applicable).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation on patient records and device databases.
- Contribute to the education and mentorship of junior physiologists, trainees, and other clinical staff.
- Participate in clinical audits, research, and service improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and wider MDT to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
Requirements for the Band 7 Device Physiologist Job in Swindon
- BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent.
- RCCP registration or AHCS equivalency.
- Extensive experience in CRM device follow-up and interrogation.
- Advanced knowledge of device programming across multiple manufacturers (e.g., Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Abbott, Biotronik).
- Ability to interpret complex arrhythmias and troubleshoot device-related issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- High standards of documentation, safety, and clinical governance.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- BHRS or IBHRE certification in CRM (preferred).
- Experience with remote monitoring platforms and virtual care delivery.
- Experience in supervising or managing a small team.
- Prior involvement in service development or clinical research.
