Other Duties Of Nurse Prescriber role

The non-medical independent Nurse prescriber may, from time-to-time, be asked to undertake other reasonable duties, with appropriate training. It is important that all members of staff are prepared to undertake additional or relinquish current duties to maintain service delivery to patients. It is expected that requests from the Partners will not be unreasonably refused.

Online Nurse Prescribing Courses

Online non-medical Nurse prescriber courses can be carried out, these are very far in between and recommend that you go with a qualification that is hands-on and practical.

Locum Meds also recommend that you choose a course which has the V300 Independent Prescribing qualification (Independent nurse prescriber and Supplementary Non-Medical nurse prescriber) incorporated within the course, or you can study this qualification alongside Nurse Practitioner qualifications, make sure you achieve a V300 Independent Prescribing qualification as this will determine your prescribing rights as shown on the NMC website for each individual nurse.

How to become a Certified Nurse Prescriber:

Pharmacists can attain two types of prescribing qualification: independent and supplementary. Independent prescribers, or non-medical independent nurse prescriber (NMPs), are in a position to give patients timely access to medicines and are ideally placed to optimise and individualise treatment. The NMP takes responsibility for the clinical assessment of the patient, including establishing a diagnosis and prescribing the necessary medicines. Supplementary prescribing, on the other hand, is a voluntary partnership between a doctor or dentist and a supplementary prescriber, who can prescribe medicines within an agreed patient-specific clinical management plan with the patient’s agreement
